How to roast chestnuts in a cast iron skillet

  • 250g fresh chestnuts
  1. Use a sharp serrated knife to cut a cross in the top of each chestnut.
  2. Heat a cast iron skillet over medium heat and add chestnuts in a single layer.
  3. Cook 15 minutes, giving the pan a good shake every few minutes to turn the chestnuts.
  4. Once cooked, wrap in a tea towel and steam around 10 minutes.
  5. Unwrap, and gently un-peel the two outer layers of the chestnuts.
